PENNGROVE, Sonoma County — Sonoma County transportation planning records identify two Penngrove intersections on Old Redwood Highway as candidates for substantial safety and traffic-flow changes.
A county capital improvement report lists a proposed roundabout at Old Redwood Highway and Ely Road/Goodwin Avenue under the first phase of the Penngrove intersection program. A second phase calls for another roundabout at Old Redwood Highway and Railroad Avenue. Both phases would include accessible curb ramps, sidewalks and improved signage.
The county’s funding and planning records describe intended projects rather than confirming that the roundabouts are complete or open for traffic. Environmental clearance, final design, right-of-way issues and construction scheduling may affect when each phase proceeds.
What residents can do
Residents concerned about congestion, pedestrian crossings and school travel can follow Sonoma Public Infrastructure project updates and county Board of Supervisors decisions. Current stop signs and road markings remain controlling until any new intersection is officially opened.
